“I knew the moment the Lufthansa 747-400 D-ABVH rotated into an approaching snow storm at sunset that this was a special picture.
A jumbo may be big when standing next to it, but compared to the sky it is tiny and I wanted to capture this feeling of scale, power and adventure.
The image sets the tone for much of my artistic photography, and landed me my first photo assignment in Canada thanks to showing it to former CBC presenter Tim Wilson, now an award winning film director.”

Artist Comments
“Great timing continued near Bigbury when a lone figured stood silhouetted against the sky.
The figure reminded me of ‘The Angle of The North” hence the title Devon Man” [SD]

Artist Commentary
“It had been a cold, grey winter in Devon made worse by suffering from sinusitis.
Seeking some photographic distraction I braved the narrow lanes to watch what looked like a promising sunset near Bigbury.
Alas the sun dipped unspectacularly behind the cloud and packing up was tempting — but I always wait on for a few more minutes.
Sure glad I did!” [SD]
